Kelly grew up a farm girl having the run of her family's dairy farm in Culpeper County, VA. She raised many species of animals and was very active in 4H from age 8 to 18. Mike also grew up in the farming community and participated in FFA as a youth. Farming is what brought these two lovebirds together and they have raised their family on some of the same land her family used to farm.
Over the years Rocky Top Farm has installed an orchard and numerous berry patches. We are developing a food forest garden and nursery that is modeled after the Back to Eden methods. For a few years Kelly ran a successful summer day camp where children would come to adopt a farm animal for the week while learning where their food comes from, make gourd birdhouses, and goat milk soap. Rocky Top Farm was a popular stop on the Culpeper Farm Tour for the petting zoo, horse drawn hay rides, and the miniature golf course along with goat milking and sheep shearing demos. Together they have raised hundreds of chickens, rabbits, and sheep, a good share of pigs, chinchillas, and goats, and have established a herd of angus and angus cross beef cattle for replacement heifers as well as for the freezer. 2019-2020 brought the addition of a Jersey who will stand for milking but was mainly used as a nurse cow.
We have chickens, honey bees, Angus beef, St. Croix Sheep, and Kiko goats. Life on the homestead is enjoyed while daily yielding to God. We raise our livestock via sustainable and humane methods on the green pastures in Culpeper County, VA. Visit the Contact Us Page to check availability of farm goods and pricing.
