Never worry about your food supply again. Secure enough delicious farm fresh beef to fill your freezer for months by reserving a beef today, we have a limited supply available for fall 2023! Our calves are raised here in Culpeper County, VA, raised on their Momma's milk, sunshine and green pastures; and enjoy some added grain to finish them out. We are considering adding grass finished options so send us an email to inquire more about that. We deliver the beef or "happy cows" as one customer referred to them, to our favorite USDA inspected processor in Toms Brook VA at no extra charge. Our animals are never given hormones as we prefer to practice preventative and sustainable methods of livestock rearing.
We sell our beef by the half or whole (talk to your friends and family to join in on a whole beef for the best deal). Crabills Slaughterhouse will use the cut sheet you fill out to process your beef according to your specifications after it hangs for about 10 or more days to age. They then wrap or shrink wrap & flash freeze everything prior to letting you know your delicious farm fresh beef is ready for pick up. We use the hanging weight provided by Crabills to calculate your cost to us (they use the weight to calculate your cost to them for processing). We estimate the hanging weights for a whole beef will average between 450 and 650 lbs.

2023: Our price for a whole beef is $3.75 per lb or half a beef is $4.25 per lb hanging wt. which represents a slight increase due to rising fuel and feed costs we have incurred in raising our "Happy Beef". Processing is a separate charge and will be due to the processor at the time your meat is picked up. There will be CONSIDERABLE POUNDS DIFFERENCE between the hanging weight that we use to calculate your beef & processing cost and the total weight of the beef that you take home. This can be as much as 40-45% & is due in part to shrinkage, de-boning (as applicable), fat/carving waste that is discarded when your order is cut. Here is a link https://extension.psu.edu/understanding-beef-carcass-yields-and-losses-during-processing that may help explain how the amount of meat you take home will vary. Here is another link that will give you an idea of the percentages and types of retail cuts you may get https://www.oda.state.ok.us/food/fs-cowweight.pdf . You will complete a cut sheet and we will deliver this to the processor at the same time we deliver your beef. Here is a link that helps you choose the best cuts of meat when completing the cut sheet below: https://melissaknorris.com/when-butchering-a-cow-cuts-of-meat-to-get/ .

*Quarter share - if you will be sharing a half beef with another family/friend it is important to note that the processor will expect the same cuts/thicknesses/packing choices for both 1/4 shares and you will each get equal portions of the half of beef as applicable. We do not sell by the quarter so you will need to find someone to at a minimum go in with you for the other 1/4 and then work out your choices on a cut sheet.
